The Global Sustainability Summit (GSS) 2024 – The GSS ’24 is now Officially Launched on an Auspicious Sharad / Autumn Evening of 15th October 2024 by the Hon’ble Union Cabinet Minister of Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Ji. A Small Team: Consisting The Members of Team IISD-CMI and Few GSS24  Partners Participated in the Launching Program.

Hon’ble Minister was highly Impressed with IISD’s Proposal for Digital Sustainability Icons Initiative. Pledge for Action on 12 Lifestyle Habits

“I Pledge” is an initiative to bring together People from all walks of life; and make a significant impact by influencing people to change their present lifestyle habits into sustainable alternatives.

The pledges, along with their actions, will be asked to share, with quantifiable data & updates regularly; so that the quantification should be possible. By the end, IISD- CMI will share the total Carbon Emissions reduced by our campaign which will be calculated using a Carbon-Footprint Calculator recommended by UNFCCC

GSS 2024 Official Mascot

Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens) has been chosen as the “Official Mascot” of the Global Sustainability Summit (GSS) 2024, as it symbolizes the significance of preserving Planetary Biodiversity and protecting Natural Habitats. This move highlights not only the importance of conserving this unique and charismatic species, just in India, across its larger range in the entire Eastern Indian Himalayas and Southwestern China. The Red Panda is an endangered species in IUCN Red Book, due to habitat loss from deforestation and degradation, as well as poaching and illegal wildlife trade, with an availability of estimated population of less than 1,800 only and their numbers are rapidly reducing. Before this beautiful fauna gets permanently extinct from our Planet, let’s converge our collective wisdom and synergy to save this wonderful animal in all possible manner, since it belongs to the Himalayas, belongs to us, and belongs to India.

The 15 Prestigious IISD-CMI National Sustainability Awards, 2024 are to be presented By the Hon’ble Chief Guest, on 28th November 2024 to recognize and honor Individuals & Organizations for their Outstanding Contributions toward leading India on the Path of Sustainability and Decarbonization.
